America Will Be... a land of innovation and unlimited creative power.

America Will Be...a country that recognizes itself as one country among many, no more or less deserving of access to the planet's limited resources than any other country. We will recognize the need to both innovate and conserve, to develop new technology allowing us to exist comfortably in the new ecological reality, but also having the discipline and consideration to change our lifestyles to curb waste and allow all people to live in comfort.

America will be a country that trains and promotes its citizens to be peacemakers. It will join with other countries in recognizing the importance of nonviolent social change by celebrating the history of the field's pioneers and investing in its expansion. We will pour billions of dollars into setting up an infrastructure allowing young people to plug into unaremd peacemaking and peacebuilding efforts around the world.

America will be a country in which our history of identity-based oppression is neither hidden nor perpetuated, but simply overcome. Our memory banks will be filled with positive images of so many phenotypes of human beings that our subconsciouses will be incapable of lapsing into stereotypes or biases based the old 'isms.

America Will Be the creation of something new, yet an amalgamation of the beauty that which is old...a stronghold in the guidance for peace and love and a new inner prosperity.  a place that touches the hearts and souls of the many, a convergence of a new conscious effort to protect the place we put our feet on and the beating life that which inhabits this ailing world.  together we rise, as the flobots so perfectly put it...as the sun rises so will the evolution of the next wave of youthful aspirations and soulful perfection.  we will come together, and america will become the harkening of a new era...one that makes tears of joy a common happening, and peace just part of the deal, yes, yes, we can get there, america will be............  

America Will Be...

A place with values and priorities where ideas, innovation and imagination thrive, where differences of opinion are celebrated, not shunned, frowned upon and ridiculed. For too long it's there's been this us-against-them mentality. And come to find out there is no THEM, there is only us. We can kill and rape and pillage the land, the resources, the people, but we can never escape the fact that we are alone in this. There is no THEM there is just us. Since long before Rodney asked if we could all just get along, before Kennedy was shot, before some other event most U.S. history students have long forgot.

More farms, more artist colonies, more living off the land, more land, more cotton, more hemp, more clean water, more locally grown food, more small businesses, more art, more investment in your own community, more support, more recyling, more reconstitution, more community, more communication, more tools.

 Less urban sprawl. Less dependence on oil and PLASTIC. Less concrete. Less hatred. Fewer buildings. Space consolidation of businesses in cities. Fewer big businesses.  Fewer violent crimes. Fewer police. Smaller government. Fewer prisoners.

 

America Will Be...

A country of shared ideas.  America will be a leader in the development of new technologies and innovations and will share those new ideas and prospects with less fortunate countries and governments to benefit from as well, leading to an altogether better world.  America will no longer be known as a melting pot of different races, creeds, and colors, but rather one entity - human.  America will be a leader in relief efforts in devastated countries, whether it be by natural disaster or America's own faults, to help build faith in humanity.  America has been a leader in civil rights for years, let us not stop now, so America will be a leader in change for the world.

America Will Be...or at lest needs to be, a country equality. It could also do with some relaxation

America Will Be...the land of the future, were simple things like race, age and power has little affect on who you are. Where we, not just america but the entire human race, can come together and advance ourselves into the new era.

America Will Be... a nation that does not forget nor mistreat it's minorities. a nation of people who can think for themselves, and not be spoon fed what to believe a nation that does not abuse it's powers nor break international law for it's own benefit a nation thats does not make independent thinkers afraid to use their freedom of speech a nation that encourages peace, true liberation, and equality a nation that will no longer act as a terrorist state and will our stop foreign occupation a nation that will not fund torture prisons like Abu Gharaib and Guantanamo Bay a nation made up of people who want good for not only our citizens but every person world wide a nation that practices Habeas Corpus a nation that will give us the rights we are gauranteed in our constitution a nation with a government that I am not ashamed of America Will be....whatever we want it to be, if we take the step, make the effort, and fight for change, it can become the America that we want... but the change is up to us... America Will Be...America to me will always be America,but i see thing that make me sick to be an american.I still see gangs going to parkinglots for a fight,and i wish i could tell them "Has anything you done in your life time made anything better"? I still see people hateing an others because of their race or where they come from.I see our own goverment lieing in the face's of its people,the same people who are dependent on them,sometimes im sick to be an American.Our goverment gaive us FREEDOM OF SPEECH yet our voices are not heird,and our country sufers for thier mistaks,America needs to do something,we need to do something about this and make the country under stand that it still has a fighting chance and that it still has a voice to be heird.We dont only need to help ourselves we need to help those who are in diyer need of it,only thin we can to peace....we need to RISE TOGETHER!

America Will Be...A place where everyone feels and is welcomed. A place where peoples differences are respected and admired. Even the poorest of Americans will still live comfortable, with health care, proper education, and actual opportunities. The most powerful people will not be able to influence American masses with their ignorant statements. Prisons in America will be a place reserved for people who are actually a threat to society. American children will be able to feel safe in their own home.

I was really looking forward to reading up with this had to say, but one word turned me off as soon as I opened up the page. Obama. Just because someone does not support Barack for president does not mean that they don't hold the well being of the nation in the highest regard and support change. Your cause will never reach its full potential until you realize this and stop limiting your audience to only supporters of Obama.

Hey DoubleAced, I respect what you're saying, and so I changed the wording of my opening post. FYI, I wasn't saying that this is a forum only for Obama supporters; I was saying that, whether right or wrong, he seems to have touched a chord among many folks that want change. But our culture constantly reinforces this "us vs. them" thinking so I think it is best to take reference to him in particular out. Thanks for pointing this out, and I hope you decide to share your vision for what America Will Be because we do seek to include everyone, not just Obama supporters!

America Will Be... the place of freedom that our forefathers dreamed about. Where every person has the same opportunities as another, regardless of race, color, social status, creed, or religion. Where every person can speak their ideas and beliefs without fear for their lives. America Will Be a country whose citizens make the decisions through Democracy, NOT the big money-hoarding coprporations, NOT politicians pushing their own agendas. American will not be hypnotized any longer by what the celebrities wore or drove or said in court. America will be a place where my babies can play in the yard without the fear of losing their innocence. Where they can grow up and be Proud to be from a country with such equality and justice and peace.

America Will Be...the leader of what used to be the free world. We were the leader of the free world until we gave up most of our rights when we gave George W another term in 2004 and didn't elect a democratic congress. Once we elected G W for another term the rest of the world looked at us with disgust and pity. But now we have the ability in one election to turn back the hands of times to 1998. Back when our president had the respect of the world leaders and the people who elected them. Or.....we could give the world a message that we want 4 more years of the same crap that they have had to deal with for the last 8 years. America Will Be... A place where creed, race, nationailty, nor gender will serve as destitutions but be praised for diversity. America Will Be... A place of hope and acomplishment, not empty pandered promises. A place where the individual recognizes what is right, and then follows that path. America may be great, or it may fall. It could drown in hate, or thrive on peace and stand tall. Who knows? Our country most definitely has the potential, to become more than what it has become; which I don't think is something to be proud of. Most of you may call me a conspiracy theorist, which is what most pride blind patriots would do. But there are many things going on in this country that most are not aware of, most of which I won't even discuss on here. At the current point in time, there is far more evil than good in and coming from this country. At the present time I would say our country is most definitely on the negative side of the balance, the dark side of the force if you will. The thing that's a real metaphoric kick in the nuts for me, is the fact that most people could care less. Everybody is too busy with their everyday lives, stuck to their idiot box, falling deeper into what is their brain washed existence. Everybody is too concerned with their own lives, with school, with jobs, with money... Most of which are necessities, and are designed to keep us occupied to a point where we don't have the time or energy to ask questions. I would say this country could go either way, if we rise up and take a stand, it could be something great... Or we could let it fall into the belly of the beast. I say the choice is ours. America will be what we, its people, make of it.

America Will Be...a country where Empire is not an option; where justice, whether social, economic or judicial, is the only option. America will be a country that exists as itself, and that doesn't need to impose itself on other countries. America will be a country where self-determination, whether endorsed by us or not, will be glorified as the basic democratic principle. Health and safety give us life, life gives us the desire for liberty, and liberty allows us to pursue our dreams. So yes, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is important, but safety and health must come first.

Free to choose, free to respect all things and ideas, free to recognize the soul in each person regardless of the coverings it wears, free to realize the good for all is the idea of democracy. Democracy is representation of the most common man, inspiring that man to care and speak his mind. Mind of the individual engaged to create not only what is best for him but what is best for his neighbors. Neighbors putting others before themselves so everyone is taken care and appreciated and shown love. Love of this COMMUNITY shown outwardly to the land that has been desecrated, the people that have been enslaved and massacred to make way for "Manifest Destiny". just to let you know I live in the UK. i like what you guys are trying to do . i believe that America Will Be the same until there's a whole new way of thinking and a whole new attitude in america and i dont think that has happened yet. you guys are thinking differently but i feel that most of america is far too conservative in their thinking right now to ever want this utopian vision you have of a future america. you may argue that america does want change cos obama ,according to the polls, has a majority and his message is of change. but i feel that most of america support him simply because they want a change in how the economy is dealt with and believe he is the answer while mccain would be more of the same .i DONT think they are supporting him because they beilieve america needs the sort of changes you guys do.i dont think he would be doing so well if america was not in a financial crisis where people were losing their jobs and homes. I also fear that you guys may overestimate how much obama will do if he wins. but presuming he does change america significantly - he will be voted out in 2012 because for most americans he will be seen as to have crossed the line and the next guy will reverse lot of his changes . not until your kind of thinking becomes the norm will the america you dream of become even close to reality. if your kinda thinking became the norm, no one would have the chance of getting into a position of power without thinking like you guys are right now. An example of american conservative thinking - using the words 'socialist' and 'liberal' as insults and the fact that your whole political system is shifted to the right of ours in the UK. I sincering hope Obama wins this presidency .Incase you dont knwo the world is watching this election closely .this one is special. if the world voted obama would win with a landslide .nearly everyone outside of america would vote him .this is becuase most of the world does not have theconservative ideals america holds. I also hope that ,if he wins, he is not assinated , sorts out the economy (cos the world economy depends largely on the american econony) and changes america for the better. in my opinion you have lousy form of democracy. your tax system is unfair . you desperately needs public health care. theres alot of corruption . alot of propaganda .(we have it here in the UK but not to the extent you guys do). alot of intolerance and hatred .a system which is designed to keep the poor poor and make the rich richer .and an arrogance that you live in the best country in the world while the world sees that you are far from it. i dont mean to offend people but that is how it is. the truth can hurt. btw - all tax changes is redistributing the wealth .redistributing wealth doesnt mean you cant create wealth too. obama wont take yYOUR money unless you are rich/super rich. and i advise you research a guy called Tony Benn. hes my favourite politician .he talks a hell of a lot of sense. ignore his socialist views if you want and just take in the wisdom he speaks. e.g. he says that governments control people by dividing them and by using fear. he is sort of like a political philosopher .and the whathe says is the conclsuion of his many incredible life experiences and a lot of thinking .and you see politicians copy what he says .

America Will Be... A place where the people can trust, truly trust its government. Haven't done that since what Nixon. A place where you can walk down the street at any time day or night and not worry about being mugged, shot, stabbed, raped, assaulted, victim of a drive by, victim of gang related cross fire, or stopped by the police for your race. America Will Be... A great place as soon as we can all get our act together, band together, and take responsibility for our personal actions. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY you helped vote them into office, either by voting for them or not voting for them, or by not trying to inform everybody that they were not the best candidate.

I will tell you exactly what America's biggest problem is, Complacency, Americans are confortable where they are at and they don't want a change, they are scared of it even. I say forget that, lets see what we can make. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX get out of your comfort zone a little bit and really get to the root to a lot of problems.

In light of the recent election, and its seemingly positive outcome, I thought it important to write note a few things. We have elected Barack Obama as our next president. This in my mind is a step in the right direction, but its not all we have to do. I am not an Obama supporter, and I am not a McCain supporter. I support the peaceful people of the world. Yeah, we voted, and we made the change that apparently most of us want, but WE CAN"T STOP HERE! The world isn't going to change over night! We have to fight for our dream of a unified nation and world, and we have to keep fighting for our rights! Our nation is headed in a downward spiral towards a complete and udder state of being completely screwed, and no president can change that alone. Obama may be a step in the right direction, but we cannot simply say that we voted and stop there. We still need to rise up and get things done ourselves. Promote peace in your communities, host events which promote unity and fight globalization, and most importantly stand up against global and local organizations with questionable morals (WTO, NAFTA, Walmart, etc.)! T Take action. We the people have the power, and we have the responsibility to change our world, not our elected president. Love, Josh
