Why Let Us Rise? Why A Visioning Campaign?
"Why, when so many of us are deeply concerned about the way our country is going, have we not succeeded in creating the change we yearn for?"
"Why, when there are 10 million people in the non-profit workforce in the U.S., is there no unified movement for broad-based change?"
An honest look at ourselves Let Us Rise grew out of conversations with Denver-area community leaders, faith leaders, non-profit professionals, activists, and "ordinary folks" who are frustrated with the way things are. (See who's involved.) We took a hard, honest look at why we have not yet succeeded in creating the change we yearn for. For example, we realized a lot of activism has been stuck in reaction (no! anti-! stop!). But how can we create a new world if we don't know what we want to create? See more about what we learned.
Inspiration from South AfricaOnce we achieved clarity on some of the reasons why we we're so stuck, and once we learned how many of us felt the same way, we realized we had the power to do something. We looked for an action step that would take us into positive, proactive, unifying, inclusive social change. We found it in South Africa.
Forming a plan of action: a Visioning Campaign Once we had a model that would help us to get unstuck, we discussed how to make it happen. Learn about the Visioning Campaign.
Forming a communityAnd finally, we needed to birth a community that would make this campaign possible. Learn about the Let Us Rise community.
